Catholic Schools Closing

  1. I believe that if they are to close the schools down they are doing more harm then good. Students who are forced to transfer into a new school sometimes do not take their new surroundings lightly. I have seen it first hand, and though I was not in elementary school it still made a huge impact on our lives. Some for the better and others for the worse.
You can see that the schools are desperately trying to stay open for their children but the dioceses have no interest in helping them. I feel that this is wrong because it is creating a tense atmosphere that is unenjoyable for families and children that are attending the schools.

  2. I think it's sad that they are closing down a lot of catholic schools. A school in my neighborhood closed down two years ago because of budget issues, Stella Maris. I felt bad for the girls going there because they all had to transfer to new schools, especially the ones in senior year getting ready to graduate. My friend had to move schools twice because first her elementary school closed down (St. Rose) and than Stella. I don't think its fair that they aren't even considering the schools academic performance and only focusing on the financial issues.

  3. I think that closing all these catholic schools is bad for children. They are now going to be put in public schools, which are over crowded, and change their whole environment. A lot of children are going to take having to leave their school hard, its a different world when entering an new school. My friend had to transfer from Stella, and she always tells me how much she misses it. Even though she likes being here, she said should would have never voluntarily left Stella because it was her second home. I don't think they should close schools because of financial issues but look into academic performances. If kids go to a school with huge class sizes they're not going to learn anything. In some public schools classes can run till eight at night, which is ridiculous because kids get tired and won't pay attention. Is seems as if they're being set up for failure.

  4. Closing down this school is such a bad thing for these kids. When their school closes they have to find somewhere new to go, a new environment to adapt to. This can be very stressful for them and they might not focus on their studies as much as they should. These are little children we are dealing with and they don't need to be kicked out of someplace they can call home. The school might be having financial issues, but I'm sure if the school put their voice out there, the parents and even the community might give in money. They could also run fundraisers and bake sales, anything to get a little money to help them keep the school open.

  5. I dont believe it would be the right choice to close down certain Cathollic Schools that are helping kids so much. Like it said in the article it is not right that their closing schools down because of money , they should be closing them down if the kids arent getting good grades. If kids are from struggling families are forced to go to a public school their future might not be the same then if they stayed in Catholic schools. This would also be very hard for a child you has gone to this school their whole life.

  6. I think its bad that Catholic schools are closing down because of money issues. I feel that a child and their parents should have the option wether or not their child attends Catholic school. I think the parish that is associated with the school should help collect some money for the school so that they can stay open. Catholic schools have also shown that their students have the best academic scores and if that is so than they should definitly stay open because its benefiting the children and also helping children to understand the Catholic faith

  7. It is a sin to close down these Catholic schools. Parents and their children should have the choice to attend any school they want. More Catholic schools should stay open, especially since they have the higher scores and education in the country, generally.

  8. I dont think that it would be a good idea to close down catholic schools because one the public schools will over flow with students, the new kids may have difficulty with making new friends in such a different environment and a bigger school so the kids will suffer socially and the people who struggle to pay for catholic school can probably get help from other maybe even raise money. I don't think its fair.
